Breathing is the most natural and vital thing for us humans to do, to breathe means that you inhale and expel air out of your lungs. To breathe deeply with intention means that you are breathing consciously deep within your core which has a variety of healing benefits.
The benefits of conscious breathing
Conscious breathing takes practice and focus, but when practiced often, it comes naturally. The benefits of conscious breathing are extensive. Conscious breath relaxes your body, lowers your blood pressure and slows down your heart rate. Conscious breathing also promotes restorative sleep, focus and mental clarity.
Here is an exercise to try:
Sit upright with your spine straight, your feet flat on the floor. Drop your shoulders down away from your ears and soften your face. Bring all your awareness to the breath going in and out of your nostrils, do not try to control it, just observe your breath.
You will notice that your breath goes in cool and comes out warm, now bring your awareness to your core, your tummy area. As you breathe in allow your tummy to extend as you fill your lungs. You can place your hand on your tummy to feel that extension. Now exhale and slowly empty your tummy. Do this exercise for as long as you wish. You are now breathing consciously. Kudos to you!
Remember: To breathe deeply with intention means that you are breathing consciously deep within your core which has a variety of healing benefits.
Until we see you here again at Healing Waters Spa, be well.
